“I wish I had done this sooner.”
It’s probably the thing I hear most often after a boudoir session.
And honestly, I get it. Almost every woman who comes into my San Diego boudoir studio has spent some amount of time thinking about doing this before she actually books. Sometimes it’s a few weeks. Sometimes it’s a few years. Sometimes she’s been following me forever and has been quietly telling herself that someday she’ll finally do it.
Usually, there’s a reason she’s waiting. She wants to lose some weight first. She wants to get in better shape. She thinks she’s too old. She’s too busy. She has kids. Work is insane. She wants to feel more confident. She keeps thinking there will be a better time.
But here’s the question I want you to consider: what if there isn’t a better time? What if you just stopped waiting?
Because I can almost guarantee that if you wait until everything is perfect, you’ll keep waiting.
There will always be another five pounds you think you should lose. Another busy season at work. Another reason to put yourself last. Another milestone you’re waiting to reach before you decide you’re finally allowed to celebrate yourself.
And meanwhile, you’re missing the opportunity to see yourself exactly as you are right now.
I’ve photographed women in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond. Women of every size. Women who were convinced they weren’t photogenic. Women who told me they hated having their picture taken. Women who showed up nervous and left completely stunned by what they saw.
They weren’t suddenly different people. They just finally had photographs that showed them something they couldn’t see for themselves.
That’s my job.
You do not need to know how to pose. You do not need to know what looks good on camera. You don’t need to have any modeling experience. You don’t even have to walk into my studio feeling confident.
I’ll tell you where to put your hands, how to move, where to look, what to do with your body, and what the hell to do with your face. I’ll choose the lighting and the angles. I’ll guide you through the entire thing.
You just have to show up.
Your session is reserved with a $590 session fee. That gets your day on my calendar and covers the experience itself. You don’t have to decide on an album or wall art when you book. You can come in, have your hair and makeup done, get dressed, let me photograph the absolute hell out of you, and then see your images.
Of course, I have a feeling you’re going to want them all!
And these aren’t photographs you’re going to look at once and shove into a drawer. They become the images you keep. The album you pull out years later. The wall art you walk past every morning. The photographs your future self gets to look back on and remember exactly who the hell she was at this point in her life.
I still hear from women who photographed with me more than ten years ago. They still look at their albums. They still have their images. They still tell me what the experience meant to them.
That’s the part I don’t want you to miss while you’re waiting for some imaginary future version of yourself to finally be worthy of being photographed.
You are already here.
This is your life. This is your body. This is your face. This is the woman you are right now.
And maybe five years from now you’ll look back and be amazed by how much you’ve changed. Maybe you’ll have lost the weight, changed careers, become a mom, gotten married, gotten divorced, traveled the world, started a business, or simply grown into an entirely different version of yourself.
But you’ll still have these photographs. And you’ll probably be very glad you stopped waiting.
So if you’ve been thinking about doing this, maybe this is your sign to quit negotiating with yourself.
Reserve the day. Show up. Let me take care of the rest.
You don’t have to become someone else first. You just have to stop waiting to see yourself.
