We take more photographs than ever, but we print fewer of them. Most of the photos we take now live on our phones or computers, and even the ones we really love can end up buried in a camera roll within a few months.
That is especially true with professional photography. You can have an entire gallery of beautiful images from your San Diego boudoir session, download everything to your computer, and then never actually look at most of them again.
I think boudoir photography is worth treating differently!
When you spend the time planning a session, getting your hair and makeup done, choosing your outfits, and creating photographs that feel like you, I don’t think those images should automatically end up in the same digital folder as your vacation screenshots and 47 nearly identical pictures of your cat (no judgement here, my cat photo count is in the thousands!).
There is something special about having photographs printed and being able to actually see them. And that is why I offer heirloom albums, prints, and wall art for all of my clients.
When you book a boudoir session with me, we’re not just spending a few hours taking pretty pictures. We’re creating a visual record of you at a particular point in your life. The woman you are right now. The way you look, the way you carry yourself, the things you love about yourself, and maybe even the things you’re still learning to appreciate.
That’s worth more than a folder on your computer.
You Deserve to See Yourself as Art
One of my favorite parts of being a boudoir photographer is watching a woman see herself differently.
Not because I have magically changed her body. I haven’t. She’s the same woman who walked into my studio that morning. The difference is that she’s seeing herself through a different lens.
Professional lighting. Intentional posing. Hair and makeup. Wardrobe. Composition. Someone simply telling her that YES, she is beautiful and she is worth it. Her deciding that maybe she is. All of those things come together to create photographs that show her in a way she may not be used to seeing herself.
And sometimes that realization is surprisingly simple:
Oh. I do look really good.
Not because she finally became beautiful. Because she finally has photographs that show her what other people have been able to see all along.
That’s one of the reasons I love creating art from boudoir photographs. There’s something different about seeing yourself printed as a finished piece of artwork. You’re no longer looking at a quick snapshot you took in a bathroom mirror or a selfie you almost deleted because you didn’t like the way you looked that day.
You’re looking at a photograph that was intentionally created around you.
What Happens When You Forget Who You Are?
Life has a funny way of making you lose track of yourself.
You get busy. You become someone’s partner, someone’s mom, someone’s daughter, someone’s boss, someone’s employee. You spend your time taking care of other people, keeping up with work, managing a household, answering emails, making appointments, doing errands, and trying to remember what you’re supposed to bring to dinner on Friday.
Somewhere in all of that, you can forget that you’re still in there.
I’ve heard women talk about this in different ways. They don’t recognize themselves in photographs anymore. They feel like they have changed. They can’t remember the last time they felt sexy. They realize they have hundreds of pictures of everyone else and almost none of themselves.
This is one of the reasons I think printed photographs matter!
When you’re having a terrible day, you can’t exactly open your phone and search “proof that I am a hot woman who has her shit together.”
But you can open the album. You can look at the woman staring back at you. You can remember that she exists.
Maybe you don’t feel particularly confident that day. Maybe you’ve been exhausted. Maybe work is a disaster. Maybe you’re going through a breakup. Maybe you’re just having one of those weeks where you don’t feel like yourself.
Open the album.
There she is.
You Don’t Need a Milestone
There are plenty of obvious reasons to book a boudoir photoshoot.
A wedding. An anniversary. A birthday. A new relationship. A breakup. Losing weight. Turning 40. Becoming a mom. Leaving a job. Starting a new chapter.
Those are all great reasons, but you don’t need one.
You don’t need to wait until you’ve accomplished something impressive enough to justify photographing yourself. You can book a San Diego boudoir session because you like the woman you are right now.
Or because you’ve spent the last several years putting yourself last and you’re ready to do something that is entirely for you. Or because you’ve looked at your camera roll and realized you’re never actually in it.
There is value in documenting an ordinary chapter of your life, too.
Why Printed Photographs Feel Different
Digital files are great. You should have them! And they are included with every image you choose to print or can be purchased separately.
But there’s a reason I recommend printing at least one of your photographs.
A digital image lives behind a screen. You have to go looking for it. You have to remember where you saved it. You have to scroll through hundreds or thousands of other images to find it.
A printed photograph doesn’t require any of that. It’s already there. You walk past it. You see it when you’re getting dressed. You notice it when you’re cleaning your room. You open the album because you want to see the photographs again.
That physical interaction changes how you experience the image. You’re not just storing the photograph, you’re living with it.
And that’s particularly meaningful with boudoir because these photographs are personal. They’re not random snapshots. They’re photographs you intentionally created of yourself.

Most of My Clients Choose an Album
Albums are what most of my clients ultimately choose, and I completely understand why!
A boudoir session usually gives you more than one photograph that you love. We create multiple looks throughout the day, and each one can have a completely different feeling. One outfit might be playful. Another might be more dramatic. You might have a series of photographs that feels powerful and confident, followed by something softer and more intimate.
Your album is also fully customizable with dozens of different cover color and material options, custom debossing, and a hand-designed layout so we can make it fully YOU.
It’s also one of the easiest ways to keep your boudoir photographs private. You can keep it in your bedroom and look through it whenever you want. Nobody else needs to see it unless you want them to.
And years from now, you can open that album and remember the entire experience. That’s something a digital folder doesn’t quite accomplish in the same way.
After more than a decade of photographing women, I still get texts from clients who booked with me 10+ years ago telling me they still look through their albums. They remember their sessions. They remember how they felt. And they still have those photographs sitting in their homes.
But an Album Isn’t Your Only Option
Albums are popular, but they’re not right for everyone!
Some women want one or two photographs that they can display BIG in their home to see every day. For those clients, I offer framed and metal wall art.
Wall art doesn’t have to mean putting a giant nude photograph above your couch (although clients do!). You can choose a photograph that feels more editorial, anonymous, or subtle and display it somewhere private. A bedroom, dressing room, bathroom, or home office can be a great place for boudoir artwork.
I also practice what I preach. I have a large piece of wall art of myself hanging over my bed, and I genuinely love seeing it every day. It’s not there because I need a daily reminder that I’m attractive. It’s there because sometimes life gets busy and you forget who the f you are.
I like having a photograph of myself that reminds me: That’s me. I love her. She’s still in there.
And that’s what I want your photographs to do for you.
I also offer folios and display blocks for clients who want something smaller or want to preserve a more focused selection of photographs.
There isn’t a right product. The right product is the one that makes sense for how you want to enjoy your photographs.

How Do You Choose Your Favorite Boudoir Photos?
This is where things get interesting!
You may go into your session convinced that you might only like one or two – because the idea of falling in love with 50+ images of yourself can seem wild. Then you see the finished images and realize you were completely wrong!
When you’re choosing photographs for an album or artwork, I don’t think you should worry too much about what you think you should choose. Pay attention to what you keep looking at.
Which photograph makes you stop? Which one feels like you? Which one makes you smile? Which one would you want to see ten years from now?
Those are usually the images worth keeping.
You Don’t Have to Decide Everything Before Your Session
You don’t have to come into your San Diego boudoir session knowing exactly what you want to purchase. In fact, most clients don’t.
You haven’t seen your photographs yet, so it can be difficult to know which images you’ll want to preserve or how many you’ll ultimately love. That’s why you get to see your photographs first.
After your session, we’ll sit down together for your reveal and choose your favorites. From there, you can decide whether an album, folio, display block, framed wall art, metal wall art, or a combination makes the most sense for you.
Pre-payment plans are also available if you’d like to spread out your investment. Many clients use a payment plan to pay toward their album before their session and then decide afterward if they’d like to upgrade their album or add wall art. It lets you break the investment into smaller payments without requiring you to make every decision months in advance.
Why I Want You to Have Something You Can Hold
Photography has changed a lot since I started taking pictures.
Most of our images are digital now, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. But I think we’ve lost some of the excitement that came with having an actual photograph in your hands.
There’s something about opening an album and seeing yourself printed. There’s something about walking past a framed photograph and catching your own eye. There’s something about having a photograph that isn’t competing with 12,000 other images for your attention.
Your boudoir photographs were created intentionally. I want the way you preserve them to feel intentional, too!
Your Future Self Will Be Very Glad You Did This
You don’t know what your life will look like five or ten years from now.
Maybe you’ll look completely different. Maybe you’ll be living somewhere else. Maybe you’ll have a different career, different relationships, different priorities, and a completely different daily routine. Maybe you’ll look at your photographs and be surprised by how much you’ve changed.
The point isn’t to preserve yourself exactly as you are forever. The point is to remember yourself as you were.
There will be things about yourself that you don’t notice right now because they’re simply part of your everyday life. Your body. Your hair. Your face. Your favorite clothes. The way you smile. The way you stand.
A photograph freezes those things in a way your memory can’t. That’s why I think photographs become more valuable as time goes on.
So, What Should You Do With Your Boudoir Photos?
If you love your photographs, don’t let them disappear into your phone!
Print your favorite. Put it in an album. Frame one, or three. Display one somewhere private. Add a folio. Create something you’ll actually see.
You don’t have to turn your home into a boudoir gallery (although you can), and you don’t have to purchase every product I offer (although I do have a collection for that!). You simply need to give the photographs you love somewhere to exist.
Because there will be days when you don’t feel beautiful. There will be days when you’re tired, stressed, busy, frustrated, or completely disconnected from yourself. And on those days, I want you to be able to open your album and see yourself as art.
Not because that photograph represents some perfect version of you. Because it reminds you that you were always worth seeing.
