This is something I’ve wanted for a long time. And at the same time, as much as I knew I wanted (and needed!) this change and all of the rollercoaster of emotions I have had about my body throughout my life, I was finally in a place where I felt at peace in my skin. I loved and love my breasts. This decision was never rooted in negativity.
And that’s the part I don’t think we talk about enough.
There’s this unspoken narrative that in order to change your body, you must have hated it first. That transformation has to come from dissatisfaction. From insecurity. From something being “wrong.”
But that wasn’t my story.
You are allowed to change your body and still have loved it before. You are allowed to evolve without needing to tear down who you used to be.
And in true Keeley Miller Photography fashion, before my surgery, I took these self portraits. Not as a “goodbye,” but as a moment of gratitude. For the version of me that existed in that body and for everything she carried, held, and experienced.
And now, I’m stepping into a new chapter. One that also deserves love, patience, and softness (and also some very literal weight off my shoulders).
This is your reminder that self-love isn’t conditional. It’s not reserved for “after.” It’s not something you earn once you’ve changed enough.
It gets to exist in every version of you. In the body you have now. In the body you’re growing into. And yes, the body you may one day choose to change.
There is no “before and after” when it comes to your worth. There is only YOU, deserving of love through it all.
If you are in a season of change, of becoming, of choosing yourself in a new way… I see you. Truly.
And I hope you’re giving yourself the same softness you so easily give to others.
