You are not alone if you’re feeling nervous. In fact, I absolutely love photographing first-time clients because you get to see yourself in a new light and discover just how beautiful and confident you truly are. As a San Diego boudoir photographer, I’ve spent years refining every detail of this process so that you feel celebrated and supported every step of the way.
Step 1: Booking and Planning
Before you ever step into the San Diego boudoir studio, I’ll guide you through the entire journey. We’ll start with a free, no-pressure consultation call so you can ask questions and feel comfortable before booking. Once your date is reserved, you’ll receive a 20-page prep guide, a personalized questionnaire, tools for creating your own inspiration board, and even a pre-photoshoot planning call on Zoom.
I’ll be here throughout the entire planning process to help design your dream session, answer any questions, and make sure you have everything you need for your perfect day. All you need to do is tell me what you like and my team and I will take it from there!
Step 2: Arrival at the Studio
Your boudoir day is truly a full-day experience, from 10 am to around 4 pm. When you arrive at my private San Diego boudoir studio, you’ll be welcomed into a cozy space set up just for you. I’ll have snacks, drinks, and even a robe and slippers waiting — yours to keep as part of your experience.
This day is all about you!
Step 3: Professional Hair & Makeup
The day begins with professional styling from a member of my glam squad. You’ll get pampered with hair and makeup designed to bring out your best features and photograph beautifully. Whether you want a soft, natural glow or something more bold and dramatic, you’ll have the chance to preview your look and request adjustments until you feel completely like yourself — but elevated.
Step 4: Wardrobe & Outfit Selection
You’re welcome to bring lingerie or outfits of your own, but you’ll also have access to my studio wardrobe filled with handpicked pieces and accessories that flatter all body types. Together, we’ll finalize your looks so you can feel amazing in every setup while also giving variety to your images.
Step 5: The Session Begins
No modeling experience? Perfect! Most of my clients have never been in front of a professional camera before, either. That’s why I guide you through every single pose, expression, and detail. I’ll demonstrate each movement and coach you along the way, so you never have to wonder what to do. I’ll even show you the back of the camera as we go, so you can see just how incredible you look in real time. Clients always say this makes them feel so confident!
Step 6: Behind the Camera Magic
Throughout your boudoir photoshoot, I will guide you through different outfits, backdrops, and lighting setups. I’ll use both natural light and studio lighting to create artistic images that highlight your beauty. The photoshoot is always filled with laughter, encouragement, and empowerment — and you’ll feel like the supermodel that I promise has been inside you all along!
Step 7: The Image Reveal (Same Day!)
Unlike most photography sessions, you won’t have to wait weeks to see your images. Right after your photoshoot ends, you’ll have time to relax and eat some snacks before we’ll sit down together for your private reveal and selection.
This is often the most emotional and empowering part of the process — seeing yourself as artwork for the very first time.
You’ll choose your favorites and decide how you’d like them displayed, whether that’s in a luxury album, wall art, or a keepsake box (we have lots of options that we can customize to your taste and budget).
Step 8: Taking Home Your Artwork
Once your selections are made, I’ll ensure everything is professionally printed and handcrafted. Your final artwork will be ready to enjoy as timeless pieces that remind you of your strength and beauty every time you see them.
