As a boudoir photographer, I often receive questions from clients wondering what to expect. How do you know what to wear? Do you need to know how to pose? And most importantly—what’s the cost of it all? It can feel a bit overwhelming at first, but don’t worry—I’m here to help!
If you’re not sure where to begin, here’s a breakdown of what you can expect when it comes to pricing, so you can focus on finding the right photographer for you.
What Does a Boudoir Photoshoot Cost?
In general, a professional boudoir photography session and package will range from $1,000 to $8,000. This includes your photoshoot, prints, and images.
That’s a wide range, I know! If you’re not familiar with boudoir photography pricing, it may seem high compared to other types of photography like portraits, headshots, or family photos.
Why the Range?
Boudoir photography is more than just a standard portrait session. It often includes additional services like a private, comfortable space, a curated wardrobe, professional hair and makeup, multiple hours of photoshoot time, and more detailed image retouching. Since boudoir photography can be more intimate and vulnerable, it also requires a photographer with extensive experience and training to ensure you feel comfortable and confident during your session.
The price you pay will also depend on several factors between photographers. This can include the photographer’s location, studio costs, experience, and what’s included in their packages.
Session Fees and What’s Included
Most boudoir photographers charge a session fee to reserve your photoshoot.
For example, at my studio, the session fee is $590, which covers planning and styling, your time in the studio, professional hair and makeup, up to four outfit changes, snacks, drinks, Polaroids, a robe, and more!
What’s included in your session fee can vary, so it’s important to ask what’s covered when you inquire about a photographer’s services. This will help you make an informed decision and get the most out of your experience.
Once your session is complete, you can choose which images or prints you’d like to purchase separately.
This flexible approach is preferred by many boudoir photographers (myself included!) because it allows you to tailor your experience to both your budget and personal style. Whether you want an album with THE matching digital files, a couple of large prints for your home, or smaller gift prints, the choice is yours. Want to mix and match to create a custom package? Absolutely!
What Do Clients Typically Spend?
At my studio, clients usually spend between $1,750 and $5,290 on artwork and images, though you can certainly spend more or less depending on your preferences. I also offer in-house prepayment plans to make this experience more accessible.
Final Thoughts: You Deserve This!
A boudoir photoshoot is not just an investment in beautiful images—it’s an empowering experience that allows you to reconnect with and celebrate yourself. While it’s an investment, it’s one that’s absolutely worth making!
